I saw a news clip about this on AOL but this is the first op-ed piece I saw.
So the new law applies only to children 3 and under? I'm curious to see how our group reacts to the opinion presented of banning paddling from public schools. |

Man, I hope they don't ever pass any spanking laws in Texas. If so Gary, you're gonna go to the pokey on 4,167 counts.

I think there would be practical difficulties here, in terms of enforcement. On the other hand,it could be used against those parents who engage in whacking small kids in stores or other public places. I hate that.
Often its a case of the child just being tired or sleepy or something. If I were a store manager and a parent was doing that I would ask them to leave. And while school paddlings are part of spankingculture history, I cannot support CP in today's schools, for a variety of reasons. One being there is the real potential for abuse. Another is the litigous nature of our society. |
