I have never seen anyone not be able to sit for a week. For that to happen you would have to really do damage to the deep muscles. Doing that much damage would cause you to not be able to stand. Paddles will cause more damage to the skin, but the heavier the implement and the amount of force will cause greater damage deeper. I have seen marks fade completely after two weeks but that was the first spanking. It is said "you never bruise like the first time". To get really long lasting bruises you have to use something that is heavy, flexible (no broken bones), and has some size to it. I like to use 10 gauge copper wire that I braid over and over again. But some regular zip cord with a three three braid will last for three days over and over again.

I think an important thing to remember with adult spankings is that they should be safe and consentual. The bottom should aways have the right to exercise a safe word to protect themselves from an over ambitious top. Each bottom has their own limits and tolerances and to push it too far borders on abuse in my eyes.
