Great story, as usual. While the details and perhaps elements of the culture were different across the pond. the basic principles and dynamics were all the same. Once that you realize that you're committed (not through your own free will, of course) to a visit with the wood (whether round and narrow or broad and flat) it seems that the whole rest of the world just shrinks away, and until the deed is done and past nothing else can seem to occupy your mind.
