Spanking Ban in the UK

Well I would post my favorite sites but I don't think I can. This october britain decided for some weird reason it was going to bring in a violent pornography ban. Although alot of the rules they made seemed fair. They where totally against any kind of porn which had a person hurting another.

This really ticked me off. I can understand there trying to make people safe but to ban everything. I also read you could get three years for just owning a DVD. Lolz I was even concidering moving after this, I am not interested in breaking the law.

So yeah I don't know if it is banned or not or if they dismissed the idea. If anyone knows anything else about this please let me know.

Another hypocritical government action against freedom of expression.
Disgusting...

If I may....

If the sites that are your favorite do not mix sex and spanking/BDSM, and just have one or the other, then you should be ok.

I used to work for "Bethany" from Bethany's Woodshed (and still have novellas for sale there) and there was a hub-bub a few years ago regarding what "violent pornography" is in the legal sense when she was in the process of starting to make spanking movies.

It is the wedding of the two -- "violence" and "sex" that fits in that definition. Both have to be present in the picture/film that is being viewed. While many see a spanking fetish as "sexual" in the vanilla world, if you are just performing the act of spanking in the pics, or in a film, with no overt sexualization, then it shouldn't fall under "violent pornography".

If you can get a copy of the law and read it, it should tell you exactly what it is.

I'm glad you understand. I was speaking to a few family members who know what the law systems like hopefully the silly idea will be rejected.

I had a look at a few things about this new law and all was very faige. But what you're saying makes sense.

And I wouldn't post anything with a sex link on here anyway. I think this place is mainly about sm so thats what I would post here.

But thanks for letting me know anyway... saves me slipping up :) I think I understand the rules a little better now thankyou.

Well, all I know is that for the last year or so, just about every video order we've shipped to the UK has been confiscated by customs. Same goes for Canada. We at AmateurSpankings are about to the point of not shipping stuff outside the US anymore. I don't know what tripped their triggers in the UK and Canada, but something sure did.

Yeah, don't you just love the UK and Canadian sex police?

We've found that using handwriting (i.e. no typed labels) on plain padded mailers (the kind they sell at Staples) seems to work best. Additionally, we only print the volume number and not the program title on our DVD surfaces.

Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

And to think the UK was once governed by people who ruled the oceans and built an empire upon which the sun never set.

And now... your government is reduced to authoring silly laws such as this.

Where did it all go wrong?

Then again, things aren't all that much better on this side of the pond either

Interesting. I thought that customs was more concerned with explosives than adult activity on film. I also find it interesting since the whole damn country seems to be fetish oriented!

On the one hand, it's a call, obviously, for spanking sites in general to ratchet up the ability to sell and download all lengths of videos via online means. That poses a challenge for DVD material, since many would want to watch it that way, but that's part of figuring out the challenge.

That still leaves a revenue stream (from the business side) and a service (from the customer side) out (i.e. mail order sales). So I think that BS is on to the right answer. It might be a little more work but I think that going to an all-vanilla mailing/labeling system is the next best answer. I wouldn't just make it generic, though (i.e. volume number). That will soon become a flag which will stand out pretty clearly. I would go with full misdirection. Label the DVD's as something benignly commercial, such as "Vacation Guide to Yosemite National Park," with an appropriate DVD art background. A volume number on that would make sense, and communication with the customer up front would make sure they know what to look for.
